Guess Blog: The Basque Tournament of the Commodore Amiga 500

So Egoitz, got in touch with me about the possibility to have a guest blog about a small Amiga Tournament he was holding in Spain, Santutxu (Bilbao). I of course said, yes, I have been approached before for guess blog on here, but they’re not Amiga related and clearly just to promote some product to get up the Google Ranks. But if its Amiga Related and you want to share a mini story or have a stuible Blog that you think would work for the site, then just let me know. (ngamiga@gmail.com)

Now on with the guess blog…..

VIII. Basque Tournament of the Commodore Amiga 500

Tuesday, 22th of april, Euskal Retro association organized the VIII. Basque Tournament of Commodore Amiga 500, an excellent retro computer that we love and play it frequently. Six members of the association met in “Café Berria” in the second floor. It is a bar located in Santutxu (Bilbao). It was a retro afternoon because before connecting the Amiga 500 we played TRS-80 and after the Amiga we played also Megadrive, Sega Mega-CD And Interton. Very interesting day. But the Amiga 500 for its excellent graphics and games was the queen of the afternoon, at least for me. We played 4 great games: Paperboy, a classic game of the teenager who delivers newspapers. This game we played in the middle level. We played until 2 lives. Then we played another very classic game; Pang: how fun it is to have to
break those balls before we are eliminated. After it. Then to Space Harrier, an authentic recreation room game. We have to fly with our character and destroy all the dangers that come from the sky or the ground. Next, we played Ghost and Goblins, another legendary, difficult adventure game. David was the best, advancing further than anyone else, although Joseba scored more points. Finally, before finishing the tournament we played Mega Phoenix; a very simple game with a theme similar to “Space Invaders” but with better graphic. In the end, the tournament was won by Egoitz but everyone but everyone made a
great effort and I loved watching my 8 year old son playing and having fun playing the Amiga 500. Possibly in August we will meet again to organize a new Basque Tournament of Commodore Amiga 500 Tournament. Let’s hope to have more people and play more games.
